Pesta Lawas: Closing Ceremony
LAWAS: Head of State Tun Datuk Patinggi Abang Mohamad Salahuddin and his wife Toh Puan Norkiah had breakfast at Perkim Lawas stall of Lawas Kitchen during Pesta Lawas and visited the community expo stalls yesterday.
The head of state and wife spent over an hour to tour the respective stalls displaying the community’s heirlooms, culture, traditions and history apart from local delicacies and products.
Among the items displayed was a 200-year-old keris, Ming dynasty ceramics, ancient canons and jars.
The communities included Brunei Malays, Kedayan, Lun Bawang, Tagal and Iban.
The couple also enjoyed local traditional food ‘ Ambuyat’ (sago) which came with healthy helpings of tasty sauces at one of the stall.
Accompanying them were Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and his wife Datuk Dayang Morliah Awang Daud, Assistant Minister in attendance Datuk Mohd Naroden Majais, Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong, Limbang Resident Maria Hasman, Lawas District officer Mohd Supaih Hamdan and local community leaders.
