Revival of Lawas FA

LAWAS: Football in Lawas is set to reclaim its glory days with the revival of the Lawas FA.

It got de-registered some years ago and now the Lawas FA new supremo Awang Damit Ali Hasan has a long list of programmes to transform the association and football in Lawas.

“Lawas FA is the best platform to unearth new talents from the district to become state and national players. Lawas has produced many calibre players in the past, including James Yakop.

“There are many football talents out there waiting to be discovered. The association will provide the platform which can look after their interest and horn their skills to a higher level,” said the newly elected president Awang Damit.

Awang Damit revealed that top on his priority is for the association to be recognised by the Football Association of Sarawak (FAS).

“Among the programmes lined up is a referees’ workshop and coaching clinic to be held this year. The local football league is expected to kick-off after the Lawas Carnival 2012 in May this year,” informed Awang Damit.

Liaw Ho Peng and Idris Edrews has been appointed as first and second vice-presidents respectively while Ladin Atok and Julaihi Abang Tuah are the secretary and treasurer.

Lawas FA has also appointed Second Minister of Resource Planning and Environment Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan as patron while Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong and Lawas District Officer Mohd Supaih Hamdan were included as advisors.
