Voice out constructive ideas, Councillors told

LAWAS: Members of the Lawas District Council (MDL) have been reminded to discharge their duties with full commitment, responsibility and integrity to the people here.

They too should be open-minded to voice out constructive ideas and proposals aimed to ensure better services of the council.

This reminder was made by its Chairman, Haji Mohd Supaih Haji Hamdan when officiating at the first session of the full council meeting held yesterday.

He also called on the council members who are Councillors to establish good networking spirit among the various department within the council and other government agencies as well.

“We are considered a mini-cabinet at district level which represents the people at the grassroots levels, therefore it is important that we think positively and must have the will to assist the people regardless of their backgrounds,” added Supaih.

Also present at the full council meeting were local heads of government departments and representatives from the Land and Survey department, Police and Ministry of Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism.

The meeting also saw several issues brought up such as the continuation of monitoring the controlled items in the district, especially subsidised items.

Supiah hoped the Ministr y concerned would keep them inform on the latest development on the pricing of the controlled items.

Meanwhile, he said the second full council meeting scheduled at a later date would see Bukit Sari Assemblyman Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and Member of Parliament for Lawas, Dato Henry Sum Agong in attendance.

Therefore, he reminded all the counci l depar tment s t o prepare their progress reports before the second meeting is to take place.
