MP: Beware of ‘rumours spreading’ opposition

LAWAS: People in Lawas district have been told to be careful of outsiders, in particular, those from opposition parties, who only spread rumours and break up the unity of people.

Member of Parliament here, Dato Henry Sum Agong, in giving the advice said the opposition only came to the district during election time whereas the Barisan Nasional (BN) government had been with the people all the time.

Commenting yesterday on the presence of the opposition leaders, especially from the Democratic Action Party (DAP), in Lawas district, Sum added that BN was not afraid of their presence as it (BN) was chosen by the people to govern the State and had been doing its jobs well.

“We have not the slightest fear of them as we know we have been working hard all this while and not only during election time.

Furthermore, Lawas is not the DAP area because here you don’t have any issue to capitalise on during the coming general election,” he said.

He added the people were getting more and more mature and he hoped the younger generations would not be easily convinced by the opposition.

“You (younger generations) ought to know the history and background of your leaders to struggle for the cause together,” he advised.

Sum, who is also PBB (Pesaka Section) Vice President, therefore called on the young people to join the BN parties, especially Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), which is the dominant party in the State BN.

He stressed that issues that some people tried to highlight had actually been in the government’s plan, like the building of a new hospital which would surely be implemented although it was a bit late.

“This is better than the opposition which doesn’t bring any benefit to the people,” he added.

“Don’t come here to instigate the people.It will only be a waste of time as the people understand how the government works.They do not accept outsiders, especially the opposition from Peninsula Malaysia, to set foot in this peaceful district,” said Sum.
