Tengah seru senarai e-kasih disemak semula
LAWAS: The ‘e-kasih’ list, which has become a guide for the distribution of various projects to help improve the lives of the hardcore poor, needs to be reviewed and scrutinised from time to time to ensure that only those who really deserved it will receive assistance.
All the community leaders and the Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) must play a proactive role in helping the government to identify the hardcore poor in their respective areas.
This is crucial because the development of the people and the state is an important agenda for the preservation of the cooperation and solidarity among the people.
Second Minister of Planning and Resource Management Datuk Amar Haji Awang Tengah Ali Hasan stated this at a thanksgiving gathering for the Barisan Nasional (BN) and the launch of a village road project at the Kampung Ladang Baru’s multipurpose hall yesterday.
Tengah expressed his gratitude over the state BN’s victory in the 16 April election even though he was disappointed with the political culture imported by the opposition from outside the state.
“Now we have witnessed the opposition parties squabbling among themselves until the Sarawak National Party (SNAP) was forced to leave the coalition.
There is also disagreement among the opposition on the shadow cabinet they formed,” he said.
The spirit of the PBB and the other state BN component party members had been intact and remained strong as seen during the last election.
“Even though I was not always in the area during the campaign because I also had to be in other areas, this did not affect the spirit of cooperation among the BN team in Bukit Sari and we managed to win by a majority votes of over 5,000,” said Tengah.
In this respect, he announced a computer laptop for each of the PBB units in Bukit Sari so that the members could enhance their efforts by storing data and recording their needs and also the profiles of their areas, including villages.
Meanwhile, the Housing Programme for the Hardcore Poor (PPRT) will be continued with the other economic programmes for those who remained loyal to the government.
Tengah also approved and launched several road projects for five villages in Ladang Baru area, namely the RM2 million road upgrading project from the junction of Kampung Ladang Baru to Kampung Luagan, a RM2.5 million road repair project at Kampung Surabaya, a RM150,000 project to repair estate roads, a RM150,000 project to repair and pave the streets in Kampung Kerangan, a RM70,000 project to pave streets in Kampung Luagan Lawas, a RM40,000 project to pave the streets in Kampung Ladang Baru, a RM80,000 project to build a bridge at Kampung Surabaya and another RM50,000 to pave the road leading to Sekolah Kebangsaan Ladang Baru.
Also present were Member of Parliament for Lawas, Datuk Henry Sum Agong, Tengah’s wife Dato Hajah Dayang Morliah Datuk Haji Awang Daud, Limbang Division Resident Maria Hasman, Lawas District Officer Haji Mohd Supaih Hamdan and local community leaders.
