Willie prefers to focus on devt issues
LAWAS: Ba Kelalan BN candidate Willie Liau says he will not badmouth his opponent but will look into people’s needs and problems in this rugged mountainous constituency which is home to the predominantly Lun Bawang community.
The humble, affable lawyer from Buduk Bui hit the campaign trail by reaching out to the rural people and listening to their grouses.
“There is so much that needs to be done in rural Ba Kelalan constituency which covers the villages in Bario Highlands, and I don’t want to badmouth people as this goes against the grain of our culture,” he said.
Willie humbly appealed to the Lun Bawang community in Ba Kelalan to remain united and work with BN government to realise their aspirations instead of supporting the opposition.
“They (opposition) would be around during election and make promises which are sweet to the ears but the people would still be where they are when they leave after election is over,” he said.
Willie is optimistic that his community would decide wisely in the interest of their future and those of the younger generation.
Accompanying him in meeting the people in Lawas town were former Bukit Mas Member of Parliament Mutang Tagal, Temenggong Paris Kaya, Pemanca Kading Silo and members of BN component parties in Ba Kelalan constituency.
He also visited Lawas Hospital to extend his condolences to the family of a fellow Lun Bawang from Ba Kelalan who passed away.
