PKR antics irk Awang Tengah
SIMUNJAN: Second Minister of Planning and Resource Management Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan was in his elements yesterday, lashing out at Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), whom he said are rearing their ugly head in the election.Describing PKR symbol as ‘mata hantu’ (ghost eye), Awang Tengah said never has he experienced such situation in the past elections until the present one.
He cited an incident on nomination day at his constituency in Bukit Sari in Lawas, where the party’s supporters, including its female MP from Peninsular Malaysia, were hurling abuses left and right.
And he pointed out that such behaviour propagated by the opposition from Peninsular Malaysia must be stopped to prevent the locals, particularly youths from being influenced.
“This (10th state election) is my sixth time contesting, and never have I experienced such situation as in the present election.
“And I urge the people to reject this brand of politics used by the opposition,” Awang Tengah said.
He was speaking at a meet-the-peoples session and launching of the rural water supply project at Kampung Lubok Punggo, here.
Quite irritated after noting that PKR had put up its flags in the village after learning that he would be coming to attend the event, Awang Tengah said it was an act of intimidation, and pointed out that BN would not bow to them (PKR).
Awang Tengah, who is also Minister of Public Utilities, urged PKR followers to return to the right path, stressing, “the way PKR is behaving is totally out of our local political norms and culture.”
He feared that PKR will cause further split among the people, particularly the youths, that will have a negative impact on the society.
Awang Tengah believed that although the locals still stick to good moral values, they were slowly influenced by the opposition.
He also reminded the people not to believe in PKR leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the party, saying that Anwar was only good at twisting facts and making promises, knowing that they cannot deliver.
