Lawas all set to host Pan Borneo Nasyid, Hadrah contest

MIRI: Kuala Lawas is ready to host the Pan Borneo Nasyid and Hadrah competition involving the champion teams from Sabah, Brunei and Sarawak, on Nov 11-12.

The oragnisers are putting the final touches on the venue (stage) near the Dato Pengiran Haji Matussin Mosque by the bank of Lawas River.

The organising chairman, Awang Damit Ali Hasan, said the competition would be a tough one and every team was aiming at nothing less than the Pan Borneo Nasyid title.

Sarawak would be represented by a team which recently won the state-level nasyid championship held in Betong. Sabah would be represented by the Sipitang team which
won the national nasyid competition recently while Brunei would be sending its top team.

In the hadrah category, the competition is also expected to be tough as the defending champion from Kampung Punang in Lawas would be facing top-rated teams from Papar (Sabah).

Awang Damit said the competition would create some economic effects to the district especially among the local traders and hawkers.
