Awang Tengah: Govt treasures unity
SIBU: The government treasures the principle of unity among the rakyat because it is aware that misunderstandings and disagreements could thwart its effort to develop the state systematically.
Speaking at the state-level Appreciation, 1Malaysia Community Award and Independent Competition 2011 here on Saturday, Minister of Industrial Development Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hassan said the core value of the 1Malaysia concept was also unity.
“The 1Malaysia is the brainchild of our prime minister, and it is fully supported by all of us in Sarawakbecause the main objective of 1Malaysia is unity in diversity. It is only through unity that all our plans for the rakyat can be realised.”
His text-of-speech was read out by the political secretary to the chief minister Abu Seman Jahwie.
Awang Tengah said the state ought to be proud of itself for it had long been a role model for the 1Malaysia concept.
He added that the state had not encountered big culture and religion-related issues because the rakyat had been able to eat, live, and work together.
Among those present were director of Sarawak Information Department Resat Salleh , his deputy director Zaini Mohd, and Sibu Resident Sim Kok Kee.
