Persatuan Lun Bawang Sarawak bergoncang?
LAWAS: Temenggong Paris Kaya is still Special Advisor of Persatuan Lun Bawang Sarawak and not Baru Bian as was reported in yesterday’s newspaper (not New Sarawak Tribune) under the headline ‘Association in turmoil as secretary resigns’.
According to its President, Robin Lusong, there was no turmoil in the association whatsoever.
The association was still very much intact.
He, however, said that Baru Bian the newly elected Ba’ Kelalan Assemblyman, together with Lawas Member of Parliament were appointed as patrons of the association. Baru replaced Nelson Balang who did not stand for re-election and his replacement, Willie Liau the association’s Secretary was defeated by Baru.
“When appointing members to the association we do not look at the person’s political affiliation.
Even in the Central Committee itself we have members from various political societies.
“The aim of our association is to unite all the Lun Bawang regardless of political affiliation,” Robin said, adding that there was also no truth in the story that Henry (Sum Agong) had been replaced as patron as he was still needed, together with Baru, to make the association stronger.
As to who gave the statement to the press, Robin said that it could be anybody but not Willie Liau as he (Willie) had e-mailed him saying he had no part in it, and he believed him.Willie, meanwhile, said the association should not be made a political vehicle “but it must be friendly with the government of the day in order to achieve more development and benefit for the community”.
He expressed regret that someone had used his name to create some uneasinesses in the association and the community for their own personal agenda.
