Willie blames land, Bible issues for defeat

LAWAS: BN candidate for Ba Kelalan constituency, Willie Liau who lost against PKR candidate, Baru Bian wants BN government to tackle the NCR land and the Bible issue raised by the opposition as the factor for his defeat.

He said these two issues really influenced the direction of voters in Ba’ Kelalan and Bario to vote the opposition in the recently concluded 10th state election.

“What can I say, voters in Ba Kelalan constituency have made their decision and I accepted the result,” Willie said.

According to Willie, these two issues have raised doubts in voters in Ba Kelalan and a major blow for BN to win their undivided support in this election.

He said the government should have tackled these two issues accordingly as the opposition manipulated them to win the people’s support here.

Willie who accepted his defeat against Baru said, this is what the people of Ba Kelalan want after the result was announced and hope the opposition can help to look after the interest of the Orang Ulu community in the highland here.

Willie secured 2,032 votes against Baru who secured 2,505 votes to lose by 473 votes.
