Mohd Hafiz Talib who was named the overall best student for his batch, for obtaining a CGPA of 3.84 in the Building Technology Certificate course, said that he chose IKM because he enjoys having practical classes rather than theoretical ones.

"I took this course because this is what I am interested in, apart from that I can see the potential in me having a bright future if I am skilled in this aspect.

"There are so many things I can do when I step into society with this certificate and skill in hand, and I think I may also want to take up a diploma and continue for a degree in this subject," he said, while his parents who were also present, beamed proudly beside him.

He also felt that if many of the youth out there also take up this course, there may be a chance that one day the problem of foreign workers in this sector could be solved. The 21-year-old, born in Lawas ,Sarawak, and who studied in SM Agama Kota Kinabalu is the youngest among 10 siblings in the family.

"My parents, teachers and family are the ones who gave me the most motivation during my study period here, and I hope one day I will not only be a skilled worker for a company but also have the chance to set up my own company so that I can make life for my family better," Hafiz said.
