19-year-old boy murdered in brawl

LAWAS: A 19-year-old boy was brutally murdered in a brawl here on Friday night.

The fight is believed to have started between two groups of teenagers where the victim was believed to be attacked by more than one suspect at an internet café before the victim escaped to a nearby road.

Through preliminary investigation, the police said that the motive behind the fight was believed to be based on revenge.

The police confirmed the victim passed away while on the way to Lawas Hospital.

Police immediately mounted a man hunt for the suspects.

At press time, police have detained eight individuals to assist in their investigation but has yet to release an official statement regarding the matter.

The media has also been ordered to stay away from the police station so as not to interfere with their investigation and man hunt.

Meanwhile, the victim’s family and relatives who hailed from Long Lopeng, Ba’ Kelalan, arrived at Lawas town after hearing of the incident.
