Spirit of cooperation at Kampung Dato

LAWAS: The spirit of cooperation among the residents of Kampung Dato in Kuala Lawas is strong, particularly when they come together to contribute their skills, knowledge and manpower to organise events.

This was evidenced when the villagers pooled their resources over the weekend to prepare for the district and divisional levels Quran recital competition which commences today and ends on 11 March.

The Chairman of Dato Haji Pengiran Matusin Mosque, Awang Damit Ali Hasan, was moved by the spirit shown by the villagers and said such spirit of cooperation had been in existence among the villagers since long ago.

Damit said that the people, young and old, got together and contributed ideas and suggestions on the preparations for the Quran recital competitions.

Meanwhile, the residents of Kampung Dato hoped that government agencies could extend assistance such as the provision of basic needs that were not available at the village level.

Second Minister of Planning and Resource Management Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan, who orginally hails from the village, will officiate at the opening ceremony of the district- level competition.
