Talib slams opposition’s rough tactics

BINTULU: Youngsters are advised not to be influenced by the opposition’s rough methods of politics.

Assistant Minister of Tourism, Datuk Haji Zulpilip said this at the 1Malaysia Youth Camp here on Saturday night, organised by Sarawak Special Affairs Department (Jasa), in collaboration with the Ministry of Information, Communication and Culture, youth associations, NGOs and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB).

“We cannot condone such political culture. We want the youngsters of this country to be positive, kind, knowledgeable, experience, ready to serve, open to change, willing to take risks, willing to sacrifice, be productive, and not to be influenced by unruly and ill-mannered politics,” he said.

He added that Malaysia is a very fortunate nation with its stable and progressive political scene which the youths of this country must maintain.

“Do we want a political environment that is rough, condemn others, and lies? Of course not,” he said, adding that many members of the opposition parties had left to join the Barisan Nasional (BN).

Hence, he said the people, especially the youths must not be influenced by the opposition’s prevarication and that they should continue to uphold the country’s decades-long political stability.

Talib who is also the state assemblyman for Jepak said that the people should also be grateful of the country’s peace, political stability and racial harmony.

He also slammed the opposition for saying that states being run by them were more developed compared to states governed by BN.

Earlier during the ceremony, a talk was presented by the director of the Sarawak Special Affairs Department (Jasa), Jemat Lihi, regarding the political scenario especially after the 2008 political tsunami and the latest political trend.

Also present were Saberkas deputy secretary general cum chairman of Saberkas Bintulu district Dato Paul Teo, deputy chairman of the PBB Jepak cum chairman of the organising committee Saidi Abang Shamsuddin, Bintulu deputy Resident (social) Ismawie Salleh, and Head of the Bintulu Youth and Sports Office Nur Nafhatun Ahmad Masut.
