BNG FC Sundar Zone champ

LAWAS: BNG FC of Lawas edge Long Segaman 2-1 in the finals to emerge champion of the Sundar/Awat-Awat Zone of the 9-a-side Awang Damit Ali Hasan Cup.

The champion won RM1,000 and a trophy while the first and second runners-up received RM800 and RM600 respectively in this competition hosted by the local PBB Youth sub-branch.

Attractive prizes from mini motorcycles, bicycles and electrical appliances were also won by winners of the sponsored lucky draws held to add excitement to the competition that was also aimed at closer interaction and closer rapport by PBB and the people.

Lawas Member of Parliament Datuk Henry Sum Agong officiated at the prize presentation ceremony. He said youths in the district were fortunate to have the football competition organised here in Sundar and Merapok zones after a lull of tournaments in the district.

“This competition provides an avenue to unearth potential football talents here. I hope that the team spirit of PBB Youth here would continue to be strengthened as a result of this tournament,” remarked Henry.

Competition sponsor and patron, Awang Damit Ali Hassan, informed that the PBB Sports Tour programme which was already held in Merapok, Kuala Lawas and Sundar/ Awat-Awat will continue after the fasting month with the next games at the Punang, Trusan and Lawas zones.

“The programme offers our youths an avenue to be engaged in healthy sports activities,” said Damit.

Also present at the function were organising chairman Mirad Tair, Sundar’s SAO Ladin Atok and community leaders.
