LAWAS: A Police team from the Anti-Narcotics Unit arrested a man with 300 Ecstasy pills in front of Pos Malaysia Lawas early this week, making it the biggest seizure in the district so far this year.
Lawas OCPD Superin-tendent Anthony Abell Chendan told a press conference said the suspect was found to be carrying in his bag 300 pills stamped AK-47 and weighing 101.7grammes.
The police team, led by Inspector Suhaizan, also seized a Mitsubishi Triton and cash comprising RM2,728 and B$200.
Investigating officer Chief Inspector Mohd Roslan Matkip said the suspect, who was nabbed after several days of surveillance, was a former restricted residence detainee from Sibu, and had worked as a bird’s nest entrepreneur in Lawas.
“This success is something we are proud of. With higher crime solving rates in the district compared to previous years, we will continue to work hard to keep Lawas clean of drugs,” said Anthony. He urged the public to continue to cooperate with his men in their fight against crime and the drug scourge.
