The donations, in the form of clothing and cash, were presented to Rilek Pangas,52, Kudom Balih, 63, and Tamuh Alai, 73, yesterday by Lawas District Officer Haji Mohd Supaih Haji Hamdan, who was accompanied by Assistant Agriculture Officer Zulkifli Sahari and Information Officer Syarulizan Madian.
The trio was touched by the gesture and said Tengah has always been close to people and care about their welfare even though he is far away at the State capital.
The fire last Sunday claimed the life of Tamuh’s younger sister Aden Alai, 70, and destroyed three houses.
Firemen from Sipitang District in Sabah were dispatched to the village, which is about 40 kilometres from the Lawas town.
